Katrin Bromber

Katrin Bromber is senior researcher at Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO) in Berlin. She received her PhD in African Linguistics from the University of Leipzig and her Habilitation degree in African Studies from the University of Vienna. Having extensively studied Swahili-related linguistic, historical and literary phenomena in East Africa and the Western Indian Ocean, Katrin Bromber currently works on the social history of sports and citizenship in 20th century Ethiopia. She has published the results of her research on Ethiopia in The International Journal of the History of Sports, Northeast African Studies, Annales d'Ethiopie and Cadernos de Estudos Africanos.
